De’Longhi PACAN 140HPEWC Whisper Cool Portable Air Conditioner Review
As an average person here in the US, I struggle to pay my monthly mortgage and utility bills. My financial budget is so stretched that I cannot afford to run my central air conditioner. This is the main reason why I chose to give the De’Longhi portable air conditioner a shot. Below you will discover how I rate this product, along with a few pros and cons.
- Capable of cooling a 500 square feet area, with a 14,000 BTU rating
- Capable of cooling and dehumidifying simultaneously, with the Reel Feel Mode
- Capable of cooling, dehumidifying, heating, and fan modes
- Easy to see LED display and remote control with accessible storage place on top of the unity
Less Energy Wastage
The De’longhi promise is to save the homeowner on their energy bill, since it is equipped with energy efficient components. I must say that I was skeptical at first until I received my first electric bill, after a month of utilizing the De’longhi. My electric bill was nearly $40 less than the previous month. While this may not seem like a lot of money to most individuals, it truly made me very satisfied that I purchased this great product.
The 24-hour programmable timer provides me with a significant amount of convenience. I can preprogram the air conditioner, before I go to bed. It will shut off after several hours, so that I am not forced to leave my bed to adjust the settings or switch it off.
When I began my search for a portable air conditioner, I was genuinely concerned about the excess condensation, which I realized would have to be emptied 3-4 times a day. I was immediately drawn to the De’longhi, since it has a recyclable capability, when it comes to the condensation. This feature truly works and I never have to be concerned about injuring my poor back.
No Bacteria Build Up
I did not understand how important the BioSilver air filter was for the unit. In fact, I dismissed its capabilities altogether, even though it promised to prohibit and annihilate bacteria, mold, and mildew growth, before it has the opportunity to grow. This is fantastic for an old lady like me, whom has a poor immune system. I never have to be worried that harmful mold, as long as I own the De’Longhi.
Now it is time for me to banter about the negatives of the De’longhi. The engineer that developed and designed the window bracket must have failed miserably. The overall size makes the device useless. I decided to measure it and I came up with 1/8” in thickness and less than 6’ in length, along with the extension bracket. Well, I was lucky that my son had an extra piece of plywood, so he handcrafted me a window block, so that the cold air cannot float out the window.
The De’longhi has not failed me yet, but it is vital that you fully read the description and specifications, before you make your final purchase. It keeps my small bedroom temperature around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, which is perfect for little ole’ me.
