A Comprehensive Review of the EdgeStar Ultra Compact 8,000 BTU Portable AC
Hello there again everyone! It is a new day and a new portable air conditioner. This time I was fortunate enough to receive an EdgeStar portable air conditioner as a review item. Well I’ve got to live up to my end of the bargain so I played around with it for a few days and have written up my assessment which you will find below.
Just by looking at this nifty little machine you can tell that it is very compact as the name suggests. To get a better understanding of its performance I have listed the specifications below.
- 8,000 BTU Cooling Capacity-equipped Portable AC
- Convenient and adjustable, 24 hour timer
- Satisfies the RoHS guidelines ensuring safe use
- Weighs around 60 pounds
- Portable design at just 2 feet height
- Packs a dehumidifier
Don’t be fooled by the machine’s compact size! It is actually capable of producing quite a bit of airflow.
So Small and So Easy
As someone who is used to the bigger air conditioners I felt a bit of relief when I finally got this one. It is very lightweight and only weighs around 60 pounds. Caster wheels at the bottom allow the machine to be moved around easily. I grabbed ahold of the handles and drug it into place. After that the installation was very simple. All of the necessary items were included. I got it hooked up within thirty minutes after it was delivered.
Some of you will be happy to know that this product is environmental friendly! It meets all of the RoHS Standards. It abides by the guidelines set forth by the European Union. All you Greenies out there will be happy with this AC sitting in your home!
24-Hour Energy Saver
Many of these air conditioners are equipped with 12-hour or 24-hour timers and this one is no different. Still it is a helpful little feature that will ensure that your unit shuts off when you no longer want it on. Before I went to bed, I switched it to shut off in two hours and it did! Can’t complain about that.
First and foremost, many of you out there will want a portable AC that is capable of throwing out a big amount of cold air. This one will struggle a bit to achieve that as it is simply too small. Despite its small stature, the unit can be very loud when it is switched to the high setting.
This isn’t one of the worst portable air conditioners I have used. In fact, it is quite good as long as you know what you’re getting. Don’t set your expectations too high and this unit will provide you with a moderate amount of cold air along with a high level of convenience.
