Conveniently Cool Air with the Honeywell MM14CHCS Portable Air Conditioner

Honeywell MM14CHCS

As a company that has always specialized in the heating and air conditioning sector, it was only a matter of time, before Honeywell decided to try their hands on portable air conditioners. My first experience with this company’s portable air conditioners is the MM14CHCS. With the summer’s heat causing discomfort in my home, I was eager to get this machine set up and running in my bedroom. Below, you will learn about my experience thus far.

 The Product Specifications

With a quick glance, you can quickly see that the unit is very stylish and nearly resembles a stereo system component. Suffice to say, it suits my home’s interior design perfectly and I am sure it would yours, as well. Below, you will find more specifications of this device.

  • Equipped with 3 individual speeds and an automatic programmable timer
  • Capable of delivering sufficient air flow, despite quiet operation
  • Doesn’t require a bucket and can offer nearly 80 pints of dehumidification per day
  • Portable air conditioner: 14,000 BTU
  • Built-In Heat Pump: 13,000 BTU
  • Convenient LED display for precise and easy control
  • Capable of cooling an area of 550 square foot

With the information above, I was quickly able to assure that the unit would work perfectly for my bedroom, which is right around 500 square foot.

Plenty of Operations

With many portable air conditioners, you might receive one of two features, such as the air conditioner and dehumidifier. This is something I searched for excessively, before purchasing the Honeywell MM14CHCS, which offers four different operation modes. It is capable of working, as an air conditioner, fan, heater, and a dehumidifier. Purchasing each item separately would be outrageously expensive, when compared to the price of this singular unit. Each option has been more than suitable for my needs.

Sufficiently Powerful in a Compact Unit

Although this unit is somewhat on the heavy side, it isn’t all that big. The product dimensions are right around 16×16.5×30 inches. Once it arrived at my home, the bottom wheels made it effortless to roll to my installation point. Once installed, the

device is out of the way and doesn’t block foot track. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the unit isn’t powerful, because it certainly is! In fact, this is one of the most powerful portable air conditioners on the market. It is capable of cooling a space of up to 550 square foot. As for the dispersing of air, this unit is capable of circulating air, at 265 CFM.

Installation and Operation

As with almost all portable air conditioners, you’ll need to run a hose from the unit to the exterior of your home. Most people, including me, will decide to do so through a window. The process is simple and Honeywell includes a window kit, which helps to keep the hose in place, while keeping the window secure. Operation has been simple and effortless. The buttons, which are found on the front of the unit, are perfectly labeled for your convenience. An included remote control allows you to adjust all of the settings from anywhere in the room.

Cons to Consider

When taking this unit’s components and power into account, the overall weight is reasonable. If you’re able to wheel the unit around, it is easily portable. However, you shouldn’t expect to transport it over a great distance easily, since it still weighs almost 80 pounds! Unfortunately, the unit needs to be drained every 6 or 7 hours. Since it isn’t equipped with any type of drain hose, this can become very aggravating!

My Conclusion

The Honeywell MM14CHCS is a significantly powerful, but limitedly portable air conditioner. It works fairly quiet and offers an array of different features. Although the drain system is not one of the better ones we’ve seen, it still suited my purposes excellently.
