A Rigorous Review of the Honeywell MN12CESWW-C Portable Air Conditioner

Honeywell MN12CESWW-C

There is one thing certain about Honeywell. It is definitely a reputable name that is generally very trustworthy. When I got a chance to receive the Honeywell MN12CESWW-C as a review item, I couldn’t resist. This is not my first time reviewing a Honeywell unit either. I’ve already reviewed their 8,000 BTU & 14,000 BTU offerings. After a little experimentation I have put together a few thoughts concerning the unit’s performance in my home. You can read about this below.

Product Specifications

There is no doubt that this is a big unit. I thought I was going to have to bear hug it once it arrived. Instead, it is built with convenience and portability in mind. Caster wheels and convenient handles make it easily moveable. Other specs can be found below.

  • 12,000 BTU Cooling Power
  • Cooling capacity up to 450 sq. ft.
  • No bucket is required for the dehumidification
  • Can dehumidify at 70 pints/hour
  • Has a 24-hour timer and a useful protective cover

Sounds pretty impressive right? Before you jump to conclusions be sure to read on and learn more about my time with this portable air conditioner.

Effortless Installation

First let me just tell you about how easy this unit is to install. Everything and I mean everything you need is included. You won’t need to make a quick break for the hardware store. A very flexible exhaust hose is provided and makes things much easier. However, it is the window venting kit that is most impressive. It is easy to use and takes a few minutes to figure out. By the time you learn how to adjust the window vent, you’ll already have it installed as I did.

Big and Bold Performance

Some units are bigger but not bolder. Rest assured that the Honeywell MN12CESWW-C doesn’t fall in that category. Instead it is superbly powerful. Once I got it installed and flipped it on my room started to feel a little bit colder. It will most certainly perform up to the expectations of the manufacturer’s suggestion. If you need to cool up to 450 sq. ft., this unit will do it.

Plenty of Controls

Controlling the unit couldn’t be easier. When I didn’t want to get out of my seat I simply used the included remote control. It works perfectly and actually out performed my television remote. Of course the digital LCD display is also very simple to use. I can easily walk over to the unit and press a few buttons to get the exact settings that I desire.

My Assessment

I’ve got to admit that this is one of the best portable air conditioners I have used. It is strong, but silent. The no-drip design is awesome and improves the overall package. Honeywell knocked it out of the park with this one!
